From different epochs, there are masks, representing the history and beliefs of the indigenous people, used in their ceremonial dances; wooden figures, carved by the Spaniards or the indigenous, in a variety of forms and styles from the primitive to pieces of great classical refinement; slingshots, used as hunting tools and created by the peoples of Guatemala, represent a unique, artistic art form expressed with boundless creativity; handmade(crafted) furniture, distinct and diverse, created by Guatemalans in the colonial style of the Spaniards; paintings, used in home altars and churches as devotional icons; silver, which Guatemala’s people learned to manufacture for personal and ceremonial use; and ceramics and textiles done by the indigenous people from different communities of this colorful country.
