Richmond Designs was founded in 1999 as a graphic design company and a division or The Award Shop, Inc. Our parent company was started in 1988 by LTC Bob Oldmixon as Appomattox Gallery (Fort Lee Specialty Shop) inside the Fort Lee Post Exchange Mall and has been there ever since. Today, we operate Appomattox Gallery, The Award Shop, Inc. and Richmond Designs, LLC. In 1994, we opened our second location in Colonial Heights just outside Fort Lee. Shortly after opening our second location we moved into a much larger building located on the Boulevard (US Route 1) in Colonial Heights. The new building has about 8,000 sq. feet of work space with a 2,000 sq. foot showroom.
