The SPITFIRE EMPORIUM is a World War II and Canadian Aviation Store with an Archives section for those interested in Aviation History from a Canadian perspective. RAY WHITTEMORE, OWNER of the SPITFIRE EMPORIUM Successful ventures in other businesses have allowed me to follow my true passions... indulging in a lifetime dream of owning my own aviation-related store. Other interested people have joined me in this endeavor. The advent of the internet , hopefully, will enable us to take that passion to the world. My longstanding love of things related to aviation keeps growing....even though I have no military background and am not a pilot. Perhaps the fact that I was born on the exact day that Douglas Bader shot down his first enemy aircraft as depicted by Robert Taylor in his print, First of the Many was a factor. Possibly it was my first air show as a child that did it. It certainly affected me deeply. Who knows? The passion is there and it continues to grow. I have been a member of The Canadian Harvard Aircraft Association since its beginnings and continue to be an enthusiastic back-seater. I have been enrolled in The Mynarski Lancaster Support Club since the start of the restoration of that aircraft many years ago.
