British Tractor in Antiques & Collectibles Suppliers Directory
I am an Englishman and as a boy I drove E27N and E1A Fordson Majors, after school and during weekends on farms in Lancashire. I served my apprenticeship with the Ford New Holland dealer working on Majors, Dextas, Ford worldwide series, County, Roadless and Northrop tractors. I then left tractors and worked in various engineering jobs in England, Spain and New Zealand. In 1987, I married a Canadian girl and we decided to live in Saskatchewan. No suitable engineering jobs were to be found, so I decided to go back to tractors. After working with several other dealerships, in 1990, I decided to start my own tractor repair business. First I was hooked on the John Deere H and then at a sale I looked at a Fordson Model F. It was in good shape and had run very recently. I was not planning to buy it as I thought it would make over $2000, however bidding was slow and I took it home for $800. The next day I drove it around the yard and all the old Fordson oil started flowing around my veins again. Next I had to find an E27N, which took a long time to find a good one. I began buying lots of tractors for my new habit, which was becoming very expensive.
